TWO BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS

March 19, 2010

I want to take this opportunity to announce to you, my friends about something that still has me in shock and in awe. I have recently received my Episcopal Certificate of Appointment to the Office of Bishop.

With this Episcopal appointment, I will be the Prelate of the churches in the state of Florida within an apostolic body of believers. This is quite an honor that I am most humbled by. In my nearly 20 years of preaching the gospel and 10 years of being a pastor, I have never desired or sought elevation to the office of the Bishop. I am not one that seeks position. I am not one who gets caught up in titles. As a matter of fact, I still introduce myself to most people that I meet as “Robert Carpenter. “

God is not concerned about titles as much as He is concerned about us fulfilling the mandate of the title that He has given us. Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said this, “If it falls your lot to be a street sweeper, sweep streets like Michelangelo painted pictures, sweep streets like Beethoven composed music, sweep streets like Leontyne Price sings before the Metropolitan Opera. Sweep streets like Shakespeare wrote poetry. Sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will have to pause and say: Here lived a great street sweeper who swept his job well.” That’s what God wants from all of us. Anyone that has known me in the numerous capacities that I've served in the Lord’s church knows that I always give 100% in whatever “position” I am in. In this next level of ministry, I intend to do the same: serve the people, the churches and the pastors that are within my jurisdiction.

Another announcement is that I have the opportunity to minister internationally within the next few weeks on The Word Network. My show is called, “Let’s Go! with Robert L. Carpenter, II.” This show will be broadcast weekly on Monday mornings. (Time to be announced later) This show will be a little different from the usual “preacher preaching” type broadcast. However, in addition to the sharing the word of God, we will be integrating social media. (Facebook, Twitter & even Myspace) That’s right, from now on your responses to my posts may be used during an upcoming show. It is definitely going to be an exciting experience. You don’t want to miss this show.

Finally, I want to thank all of you for your prayers and continued support. The word of God says, “To whom much is given, much is required.” God has afforded much into my hands. I don’t take it for granted and I’m often overwhelmed that God trusts me with so much. I consider myself like the Apostle Paul when he said, “Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ…”

Just like God has blessed me “in spite of” my faults and failures, God will bless you. Just be faithful in serving Him and serving others. Take your God-given mission seriously, but don’t take yourself too seriously. Even though you are the one with the mission, its not really about you. It’s about His purpose being fulfilled in the earth. We should be humbled and grateful that God chooses to use us. Whatever God has destined you to do, do it with all your might.

I love you with the love of the Lord. I’m ready to serve. Let’s go!
